These Adidas London trainers in white leather are about the best-looking thing I’ve seen from the label in years.
Why? Well, look at them. As designer Dieter Rams once said, ‘Less is more’. And by stripping back this design and producing it in white leather with minimal detailing, this is pretty much the perfect retro sports shoe.
I have featured the Adidas London trainers in the past, and the originals don’t look quite like this. Part of Adidas’s City Series of shoes, the shoe was made in suede—and quite a bold red suede with black detailing, which wasn’t for everyone.
Other variations are available right now, with the shoe constantly being updated in different shades of suede. But not leather. This might well be a first. The end result is something more akin to the much-loved Italia 1960, which you can see in my round-up of the best 1960s-style trainers.
As I said, the details are kept to a bare minimum. So, a low silhouette, a gum sole, blue details contrasting the white leather, and note that contrasting lace box, which really sets it off. There is not even any gold branding to the side as far as I can see.
This is just in. It is almost certainly a limited run and I would guess not to be repeated. If you want a pair, you are looking at £85.
