I have done a feature at length about this design. But these are the new colours of the Fred Perry tennis bomber jacket.

The jacket, as you can imagine, hasn’t changed at all. Well, not much.

Something of a Mod classic these days, this was a piece of 1950s sportswear and as you probably worked out from the title, this was designed to be worn over your tennis polo on the court during warm-up. But things didn’t work out like that.

This was picked up as streetwear and has been a jacket of choice for Mods and others for decades. The design is largely unchanged with each incarnation. What does change each ‘season’ is the colour of the jacket, both in terms of the shell and the tipping for the collar and cuffs. This time out, two new colours have been made available.

Those are described as a hunting green and a black. The first of those has what looks like black and white tipping with the second yellow and white. A Fred Perry Laurel Wreath logo matches up too.

The design itself is a classic bomber jacket shape with zip front, but with some tweaked details. Fully-lined, it has tennis ball pockets a two-way metal zip with leather puller and an elasticated collar and cuffs. The one key difference is the construction here, which is now a sports-style cotton and polyester blend, as opposed to a cotton twill.

That has brought the price down. Usually, the standard tennis bomber sells for £225, but this one is £150. Note that a Reissues version in cotton twill is still available.

Note that the jacket is also available at End Clothing for £149.

Note also that a version of this jacket is in the End Clothing Sale too and if you don’t concern yourself about logos, I would recommend checking out the budget monkey jackets by Real Hoxton as well.
