Well, it isn’t absolutely budget, but when you consider what you get for your money, the return of The Complete Stax/Volt Singles (1959-1968) box set is definitely an affordable option.
We don’t know a lot about this, it’s something we just spotted on Amazon. But I have what I think is the same set, bought many years ago. And if I recall correctly, for much more money than this.
The new version is released via Rhino and looks, from the image, to be much the same, But we can’t see a picture of the finished set, so we don’t know if the packaging and booklet are quite the same. We would guess not for the money.
But you still get nine discs of classic Stax, with all the Stax / Volt singles brought together – a total of 244 tracks in the box if my maths is correct. The track listing for all of that is on the retailer’s listing if you need it and as for the price, all of that music comes in at just £24.99. I think that’s about 10p per track.
