We have mentioned in the past that Baracuta has now been bought out by WP Lavori, a company that looks after high end heritage brands like Woolrich and Barbour. With that in mind, it’s no surprise to see the humble Harrington going upmarket too, as this Baracuta Made in England G9 Harrington jacket suggests.
Before the avalanche of ‘I can get a Harrington for £30’ comments come in, let’s look closely at this. First off, this is a made in England Harrington and as ever, you pay a premium for a quality job on these shores, as opposed to something knocked up cheaply elsewhere.
That seems to be borne out by the retailer of this coat (Oi Polloi), who comment that this is ‘the best G9 we’ve seen, and everything from the buttons to the lining has been upped’.
But this is still a Baracuta Harrington, with a 100% cotton outer, a Baracuta check polyester viscose lining, ribbed nylon cuffs and hem, double button fastening collar, two button fastening handwarmer pockets and a vent on the back.
£270 is the price. As I said, there are cheaper options out there. But if you can spare the cash, this is likely to last you a lot longer than a cheap ‘n’ cheerful.
