Here’s an interesting one. Two British giants have got together to rework a classic – the Barbour x Baracuta Mods Casual Parka.

It’s part of a larger collaboration between the two that also reworks the Harrington Jacket in the kind of way you would imagine. But the parka is a design that’s not from the archive of either label, which makes it a touch more interesting.

Available in a more usual green or a slightly more unusual shade of tan, this is, at first glance, a typical parka, a design that’s still popular despite reports of its death. But it’s a design that has a lot more to it than initially meets the eye.

It does take its design cues from the classic M51 fishtail parka. That’s pretty much the starting point here.

But after that, the parka wanders down both the Barbour and Baracuta routes in pretty much equal measure. In terms of Baracuta, there’s the use of its signature Baracuta cloth, as well as an umbrella yoke.

For Barbour, some added protection from the elements, a cord lining and trademark fastening, with a mixed tartan lining to ‘bring together the DNA of both Barbour and Baracuta’.

It’s finished with a detachable hood, a drawstring waist, and side pockets that have more than a hint of Baracuta about them.

A limited edition, as you would expect, and not cheap, which you also probably expect. But this is a coat that’s built to last and get you through several winters.

£449 if you want one.
