Another winner from a label with a reputation for them. The Carpano vintage-style Merino Wool track top by Magliamo.
You can read all abbots the label here, as I interviewed the man behind it, Diederik Degryse. One of Paul Weller’s favoured labels of late too.
There is a bit of a back catalogue to check out, but this particular top has just landed on the Magliamo racks.
This time it’s a tribute to a lesser-known cycling team, unless you are a student of such things. Carpano was actually an Italian professional cycling team from 1956 to 1966, with its main sponsor being a Turin-based wine company that gave the team its name.
The cycling shirts for the team were apparently based on the Juventus shirts of the time, but obviously this isn’t a cycling shirt. It is a track top inspired by the team and the era.
It is a vintage-style top with short zip, 100% extra-fine Italian merino wool construction, a contrasting stripe collar, cuff and waist and the team and Italian branding finishing things off.
Top quality of course, which does dictate the price a little. it sells for €149 and is available in sizes from small through to XXL.
