The BBC will never make a documentary about The Action. To be honest, with two members sadly no longer with us, they’ve missed their chance anyway. But back in 2000, someone did – it was called In The Lap Of The Mods.
Film Reviews
All Night Long (1962)
Jazz meets Shakespeare in a pre-swinging London – that’s All Night Long in a nutshell.
Bailey On… (1973)
According to the particularly stern introduction, Bailey on Warhol is ‘an attempt to capture the spirit of Warhol using some of the techniques he has pioneered and several stills of his most famous work.’ Pretty good summing up I’d say.
Vidal Sassoon The Movie (2010)
After his sad passing, I decided to seek out Vidal Sassoon The Movie, which had been on my ‘watch’ list for months. is it the definitive account? Well…
Paris Blues (1961)
One thing is for sure, Paris Blues is a supremely-cool movie. It’s also available for not a lot of cash on DVD.
A Taste Of Honey (1961)
It really was grim up north in the 1960s – and if you want to know how grim, check out A Taste Of Honey.
The Who, The Mods and the Quadrophenia Connection (2009)
It’s never a good sign when a DVD has the wrong spelling(s) of some of its contributors on the sleeve. Even worse when it kicks off to a ‘lift music’ version of a Who song. Thankfully The Who, The Mods and the Quadrophenia Connection does get better.
Tony Palmer – The Wigan Casino (1977)
The Wigan Casino meant nothing to me at the time. I was too young, Lego and Subbuteo were my kicks, but I was still aware of it, with two older sisters who used to make the short journey from Bolton to Wigan every weekend.
