Coming your way soon is Eddie Piller presents The Mod Revival CD and vinyl set, which is pretty much what that sounds like.

On 18th September, Demon will release The Mod Revival box set, curated by Eddie Piller. The Mod Revival brings together 92 diverse tracks, that showcases Piller’s own take on the Mod Revival.

It’s the first time Eddie has compiled anything based on the Revival and kicks off with The Jam’s ‘I Got By In Time’ then carrying on with what’s described as ‘a truly revelatory journey through some very rare and, in some cases, forgotten gems of the early eighties, as well as some lesser-known songs by artists who went on to become very successful in the eighties and nineties’.

Those include acts inspired by the 1960s beat scene and others who looked to sixties soul and R&B for their influences, not to mention a few who took something from the late ‘60s psychedelic scene. But all had something about them and all made a mark on the Mod scene, whether to a greater or lesser extent.

All of that comes with an accompanying deluxe booklet, with Eddie contributing a 5000-word note describing what the time meant to him and critiquing how Mod evolved from the revival onwards. Additionally, he granted access to his own scrapbooks from his many years of gig-going from which photos, adverts and memorabilia are reproduced.

As I said earlier, this is a four-CD set, sold with an A5 hardback book. The double LP version features a curated selection of 28 tracks over four sides of blue and red vinyl.

The track listings for both are available below. if you want to pre-order, the CD set is now reduced from £29.99 down to £23.99 and the vinyl set is yours for £26.99.

  1. How can I order this for delivery to the states? Amazon link shows this message “Currently, there are no sellers that can deliver this item to your location.”

  2. Dexys, not Dexy’s

  3. Scooby Dubious

Wasn’t this almost identical mod revival box set “Millions Like Us” released around 5 years ago? And why does this feature Eddie’s face filling the entire cover? What exactly is being “sold” here?

  4. Not very Mod in my world want to look at my mates CD for mods underground music like pass the hatchet by the gypsies.
    My mate is Paul Anderson

    • Modculture

This isn’t ‘all the music’. It’s just a new release set this week. There’s plenty of other music around on CD, vinyl, download etc and much of it not touching the Mod revival era.

    • EDDIE PILLER

to be fair Daren, this is a specific BOX SET compilation about a particular aspect of mod, called The Mod revival. It claims to be nothing more than a selection of music for people who want to hear about that particular window in time. I am sure Paul Anderson can introduce you to loads of mod music that isn’t of the mod revival as he has me over the years.

  5. Bo Diddley

Think Eddie Piller has compiled Revival compilations previously. I am old enough to remember Beat Generation and the Angry Young Men when it was first released – 1985? I loved that album at the time.

  6. Bo Diddley

I don’t remember some of these tracks being on the vinyl edition. Think I was obsessed with the The Directions in a way only a 16 year old could be. This type of music was my gateway into a world of music and vinyl ( r n b, soul, popcorn, ska and much more) I have never really left behind.
