Retro or vintage-style cycling tops are becoming more widely available. You might recall I did a top 10 cycling tops and shirts for Mods, which was recently updated and now includes a rather nice 1960s top from Fred Perry’s archive. But note that one isn’t cheap.

But this version by AGC is much more affordable and for me, one that works better in a casual wear sense. Yes, it has the cycling details, but it’s a top you can wear out and about without looking like you’ve just parked your bike around the corner.

As I said, the Gastone is offered in two colours. The blue is my personal favourite, but I can see the off white getting a good amount of love too.

Both follow the same design path, which means long sleeves, tipping on the neck and cuffs, a quarter YKK zip and three useable buttoned rear pockets.

It’s a regular fit and both are of cotton construction. Got that? Good. Now the details about ordering one.

This design is exclusive to Art Gallery Clothing’s own website in both shades and a limited edition, with the price at £69. Considering Fred Perry wants £160 for its cycling top, that seems like a fair price to me.

You can get the blue one here and you can order the white version here. The full AGC knitwear range for autumn/winter will follow in a couple of weeks.
