Apart from the comments about Ham Yard and its ancient history stories which are interesting but can be equalled or bettered by many other london sites ,its real and lasting legacy will be The Scene club .This club was the first all nighter for the early mods .The Flamingo was earlier but was for slightly older folkes and Blue beat driven to start with .Went there a number of times to see Georgi Fame but The Scene had the magic .The High numbers [later The Who ] The VIP,s and many more good live bands started there. The Scene also played the best new sounds [guy stevens dj ?] from Motown and other great new labels and artistes at the time.To put this era in perspective is difficult because of the way the whole west end all nighter scene worked.I luckily got to be there because i heard about the music and i loved what i heard and saw around then .Apart from one book MODS, this short period [65/68] has always been air brushed out of the so called 60,s revolution .Someday i hope someone puts that right
    regards
