Thanks to long-time friend of the site Phil Tarry for spotting Into Tomorrow by Paul Weller: Photographs by Lawrence Watson, which is out in January 2015 via Genesis Publications.
Just as well really, as you’ll need a good few months to save up for this item, which is very much on the premium side of things.
As a quick summary, you get a hand-bound book in leather (with each copy signed by both Weller and photographer Watson), a solander case, an artist-signed print and a rare 7-inch vinyl single. Already you can see the price adding up.
As for the book itself, it’s described as a ‘visual chronicle of his entire solo career, spanning over 20 years, from the Style Council to 2014’s More Modern Classics’. Each image is annotated with Paul Weller’s own text captions as he retraces his journey in over 300 ‘mostly unseen’ photographs taken by friend and photographer, Lawrence Watson.
There are 2,000 scheduled to be available, with the first copies (numbers 1-350) described as the deluxe copies, which contain all of the things mentioned above. That 45, but way, contains previously unreleased live recordings from a performance at the Hammersmith Apollo.
It’s the deluxe that is available to order now as far as we can see, each selling for £495 on pre-order directly from the publisher.
