Another book on The Jam you say? Well, this one is a little different. The Jam: The Start to 77 by Ian Snowball and Rick Buckler is actually a graphic novel.
It’s also a Kickstarter project, so if you commit, the book will go into print.
2017 will be the 40th anniversary of The Jam’s first 2 albums ‘In The City’ and ‘This Is The Modern World’. This graphic novel is essentially The Jam’s drummer Rick Buckler telling the story of the band’s evolution from the early days up until the end of 1977 in conjunction with Ian Snowball.
Or in Rick’s words…
Hello, I wanted to take the opportunity to introduce you to my new book ‘The Jam: The Start To ’77′. It will be a fabulous addition to any Jam fans bookshelf. The book will be brand new in every way because it’s a graphic novel, with illustrations from the talented Richard Schaller. Along with Snowy and my memoirs the book will tell the story of The Jam’s formative years as we raced towards the releases of In The City and This Is The Modern World.
I’m also trying something new and have decided to use the route of a crowd funding to help make the book happen. It’s like the new Punk (Do It Yourself) You just need to follow the link on Kickstarter and make that pledge for which option you want. There are three options available. But please don’t delay because we need to reach our target before January 4th 2017.
I’m certain you will like the book and be interested in the Jam’s story from that period I’ll look forward to seeing you at the book launch.
It is a limited edition, with just 1000 paperback copies and 100 hardbacks, all of which will be hand numbered and signed by Rick. You can pledge from £25, with benefits based on how much you do pledge. Looking at the Kickstarter page, the book is about half way to its target. With your help it can get all the way.
