If you want to know how much a track is worth, you can always stick it on eBay or have a look at some end prices. Or you can pick up the new version of Manship’s Rare Soul 45s price guide.
Now in its sixth incarnation, the book is the work of the longstanding online soul retailer (15 years online and counting), covering classic soul in all its guises, from doo wop, R&B and northern through to funk and ’70s stuff, plus much more.
With tunes coming up (and topping out) fairly quickly, it’s not an exact science. Nor does it cover all conditions – it’s all about mint copies here. But it is a good starting point and reference guide, no question.
The version out now covers 700 pages and is a numbered pre-release, each one signed and dated. £25 is the price.
