This is a big deal if you love 1960s ephemera, as some original The Action posters go up for auction.

There have been reissues of posters featuring The Action as limited editions. But as far as I know, none are currently available. But having a reprint and a reissue are very different things. If you are a collector, you want the real deal – and these are the real deal.

At the Entertainment & Memorabilia auction at Ewbank’s, this week (which is worth a browse for plenty of other things too) is a selection of original posters from the 1960s, which seem to have been collected by an employee of The Marquee back in the day. That’s the provenance of originality.

There are a few interesting ones in there, but the ones featuring The Action literally up off the page. They don’t come up often.

You can see the two featuring the band here, both apparently used to promote the band at the Marquee Club. In addition, there’s also a poster for the Jazz and Blues Festival in Windsor featuring the band, as well as the Small Faces, The Who and many more.

Other interesting posters too. I love the Jimmy James and The Vagabonds poster pictured here too.

The guide prices are generally £80 to £120 although the Windsor Festival is guided much higher, between £300 – £500. See the auction site for more details, conditions and so on.

The auction is on 15th July 2022 from 9:30 am and if you register, you can bid online.
