We have featured the work of Pete McKee in the past extensively, including his This Is England figures, his Teenage Cancer Trust gig prints and his general mod-related art, such as this Weekenders print. But this mod club-inspired Rega Club turntable for Record Store Day could be the most desirable piece yet.
The turntable based around the Rega RP1, but redesigned in limited numbers by Pete Mckee and being sold in selected record retailers as part of the Record Store Day shenanigans. The design. which you can see in full at the bottom of the page, is referred to as ‘Club Rega’.
According to Pete McKee: ‘The picture is a homage to the sweaty Beat Clubs of the 60’s where the 7″ single was king. Sweat dripping from the ceiling, the pulse of imported R&B pounding from the speakers and kids dancing their socks off all night’.
So essentially this is a mod club turntable and likely to be quite south after with just 500 being offered for sale worldwide on Record Store Day 2016, which this year takes place on Saturday 16th April.
If you want one, do your homework and find out which retailers will have them. Once you’ve done that, get up early and queue. The price is likely to be around the £250 mark.
