This sounds very interesting. The Quant documentary movie lands in 2022 and the subject matter, as you can guess, is the iconic designer.

According to the pre-publicity of this one, the documentary focuses on Mary Quant’s pioneering design work in the 1960s and into the 1970s, leading the charge away from convention and conservatism with ground-breaking designs such as the miniskirt and hot pants, as well as the creative partnership with the hairstylist, Vidal Sassoon.

From her very first store on London’s legendary King’s Road, through to the development of a global empire, this is the first time the story has been toes in detail on film.

That story uses archive footage as well as original interviews with Quant’s contemporaries, family, and modern-day fashion and style leaders. Dramatised scenes too, with Camilla Rutherford taking on the role of Mary Quant.

Quant is also the directorial debut of Sadie Frost, a long-time fan of Mary Quant. That always helps.

No fixed date for this one, which I presume will be heading to DVD/Blu-ray as well as the occasional film festival when the documentary is completed.

I’ll keep an eye on the Amazon listings for any pre-orders.
