It’s odd that the press behind this describes Gabicci as a ‘northern soul brand’. The label (or the best bits of it) have been worn on the mod scene for years, so with that in mind, the Norman Jay x Gabicci 40th anniversary collection should be of interest.
We stuck the teaser image for this on our Facebook site recently and the reaction was what you might describe as ‘polarised’. Now the full Fred Perry x Twisted Wheel collection has been revealed and we suspect the reaction will be largely similar.
Remember the Northern Soul movie that has been talked about for months, even years? Well, it looks to have an accompanying book, namely Northern Soul – An Illustrated History by Elaine Constantine and Gareth Sweeney.
If you’ve not read Nightshift by Pete McKenna, I would recommend it. The book was republished in 2011, although tracking one down in book format is still a tough job. But you can now get a digital copy.
Was going to stick this in events, but it probably merits a mention in the main section of the site. The Wheel Northern Soul documentary screening, that is.
