Another contender for the summer months, this time in the shape of The Carl striped crew neck t-shirt by 66 Clothing.

If you haven’t heard of 66 Clothing, it’s an offshoot of the longer-running Mod Shoes label. But clothing rather than shoes, which you probably worked out.

They do some nice pieces too, often in limited runs, which adds to the appeal if I’m honest, Some sell out before I get a chance to write about them, but The Carl design seems to be a fairly recent arrival and is available in various sizes.

The range has a mid-1960s ‘Beach Boys’ vibe about it, with The Carl (i.e. Carl Wilson) name giving a nod to that. But it’s also the kind of t-shirt that has a strong Mod look too. A slightly dressier t-shirt with something a little extra about it. In fact, t-shirt doesn’t really do it justice. This is a kind of halfway house between a t-shirt and a sweater.

Available in two colour options (a third has sold out), this is a slim-fit top constructed from a cotton and polyester mix and with a waffle/perforated style on the front and contrasting stripes around the neck, cuffs and hem.

It’s the kind of t-shirt that could be worn formally as well as casually and has enough about it to stand out from the crowd. £65 is the price of either of the two colours on show here.
