The Prisoners and Makin’ Time CD reissues from Acid Jazz, namely In From The Cold and Rhythm & Soul.
Actually, that should be a reissue and issue, as the Makin’ Time album has never been available on CD before. The Prisoners has, but like the Makin’ Time album, it is being offered here on softpack CD.
For most of you, neither band nor album needs an introduction. But as I’m here writing about them, perhaps I should do just that.
The Prisoners were one of the great underground bands of their era and a longstanding Mod favourite. They had everything but never quite made the crossover to mainstream popularity. Between 1981 and 1986 they released four albums, few of which appealed to the band after release. In fact, the one they like the least was this one – In From The Cold. Despite that, it’s perhaps the most popular from a fan perspective.

Another hugely popular band on the Mod scene of the 1980s was Makin’ Time. Signed to Eddie Piller and Maxine Forrest’s Stiff distributed Countdown label, this was an album that (like The Prisoners) should have seen them crossover. It didn’t. But it’s still a fine album. As I said, never released on CD. Until now that is.
