I don’t know it had gone away, but according to the company, the Tootal scarf has been ‘quietly re-launched’ for spring 2013.
The new collection contains six double-sided designs, all made of 100 per cent silk and all with a vintage design, a mix of paisley, polka dots and mosaic, as well as a matching tasseled finish and Tootal branding.
If you want one, you can grab one online from the Stuarts of London website, which has them for £45.
However, unlike a few years back, the Tootal is now up against a lot of competition. Of course, there are vintage examples on eBay (usually for a fraction of the price of the new ones), but there are are also a lot of very good makers of similar scarves online.
That includes scarves from Art Gallery, Junction Originals, Calle Modista, Nicholson and Walcot and of course, the excellent Peckham Rye.Or in other words, it’s a good time to be buying a ’60s-style scarf. See the rest of the new Tootal range below.
