Judging by the current weather, it’s the perfect time to pick up one of the Brella target design umbrellas by This Is Now.

It’s a nice idea, and I could be wrong, but I’m sure it hasn’t been done before. OK, maybe it has, but not quite as eye-catching as the designs of these limited-edition brollies.

A ‘Mod umbrella’ is quite a niche market, but it’s not unheard of. You might recall the Baracuta x London Undercover umbrella that was quite popular a few years back. That’s no longer available, so this might well find itself a ready-made market.

It all depends on whether you still use an umbrella. Personally, I do, but a look at the high street suggests that umbrella use is on the wane. Though I’m sure producing designs like this might help to bump up trade.

Take your pick from two target designs (in terms of colour variation, one obvious, the other perhaps of appeal as a Paul Weller fan) and two sizes – the golf umbrella or the smaller folding umbrella. As I said, all are limited editions and exclusive to the maker/seller, with a fibreglass and steel construction, manual opening and shutting for the golf umbrella, auto opening for the folding design and, of course, differences in sizing. 95mm for the folding and 135mm for the golf.

All are available now while stocks last and are priced cheaper than the Baracuta brolly: £15 for the folding and £20 for the golf. Looking at the upcoming forecast, it might pay for itself this month.
