James Brown estate sale

The Godfather of Soul is no longer with us, but his possessions are – and you can pick up just about everything from James Brown’s estate in an auction at Christie’s.

The James Brown Collection really does include everything – from hair care products, sunglasses and shoes (pictured above) through to stage costumes, awards and handwritten lyrics.

Highlights include the blue denim Godfather of Soul jumpsuit he wore for the 1974 concert that preceded the ‘Rumble in the Jungle’ fight between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman ($5,000 – $7,000), a black cape featuring Brown’s name ($15,000 – $20,000) and Brown’s Grammy awards for Living in America – also with a $15,000 – $20,000 estimate.

The auction takes place in New York on July 17th. Sadly, the full listings are not yet online, check the link below in the coming weeks to view the collection.
