Good news about a new Corduroy mini album, and if you want some earlier vinyl, there is good news about that too.
First up, the new one. It’s called Men Of The Cloth (pun certainly intended) and is a six-track mini album to celebrate 30 years of the band.
Well, it was actually recorded last year to mark the 30th Anniversary of their debut, Dad Man Cat – and 1993’s follow-up, High Havoc. And it is pretty much what you expect.
Corduroy sat on the edges of Acid Jazz and Britpop (before Britpop was even a thing), emerging in 1991 out of the ashes of cult band Boys Wonder, releasing three albums on Acid Jazz and proving very popular with the Mod crowd. After an 18-year hiatus, they returned with Return of the Fabric Four in 2018 and still play live. And now they have new music.
The mini album features last year’s limited-edition 7” single ‘No More Me Me Me’ and ‘Hypnotoad’, plus four new cuts in the Corduroy style. Tracklisting below.
It lands on 14th July and can be pre-ordered now. You can get it via Acid Jazz for £15.
While you are there, the label has reissued all past albums on vinyl too. You can get any of the albums pictured above for £18 from the Acid Jazz shop.
One last thing, they play The Forge, Camden on 15th September, 2023. Details are here.
