Thanks to Alan Buchanan for flagging up Ska with Laurel – although you might need to pop it into your diary for future reference.
According to the website of the local authority, Ska with Laurel takes place from 2nd October 2010 – 8th May 2011 at the New Walk Museum & Art Gallery and: 'tells the story of the 'Godfather of Ska', Laurel Aitken. Widely acknowledged as the originator of ska music, Laurel Aitken was a hugely influential figure in reggae and a key figure in bringing these musical genres to popularity in England. He lived in the heart of Leicester for 35 years and made a huge contribution to the cultural life of the city.'
No more details as yet, but should be worth checking out if you're in the area. More as we get it.
