An award-winning scooter, this 1962 Vespa Douglas Sportique Grand Luxe on eBay obviously doesn’t come cheap.
Of course, it doesn’t. Just look at it. This is the kind of stunning vintage scooter will never come at a bargain price. What’s more, there is the matter of this being an award-winning scooter too.
Which award? Well, at the Brighton Mod Weekender of 2016, this early ‘60s scoot won ‘Best Mod Vespa’, which is quite an accolade and a big selling point for both the current owner and no doubt the next one too.
Noted as ‘an extremely rare’ model, it is also described as a ‘collector’s dream’ and ‘probably the best you will ever see’, which are quite bold statements, but at the same time, when you look at the photos here, it is quite hard to argue with either of those points. It’s hard to find even a minor blemish on this one.
The model is a genuine Vespa Douglas Sportique Grand Luxe 150cc with 4-speed manual gears, as opposed to the similar 125cc 3-speed models (Vba’s and Vbb’s) and one that has been restored to that ‘show winning’ perfection and has just 12,052 miles on its clock.
Outside of that, you probably want to have a look at the listing for the small details and of course, to check out the photos. There are a couple more of those on the listing, as well as some photos of the paperwork, should you want to check that everything is present and correct on that front.
As I said at the start, this doesn’t come cheap and on top of that, there isn’t an option to join in an auction or make a cheaper offer. You are looking at an eBay classified for this one.
£7,989 is the classified price of the scooter, with the seller adding that it can be delivered anywhere in the world. Although that will almost certainly add in a chunk more money if you can’t make it down to Greenford in Greater London, where it currently resides.
