With all the talk about cycling right now (thanks to a certain TdF win and gold medal), it seems a good time to revisit some of the classic cycling gear we’ve flagged up in the past. Saying that, we haven’t previously featured the Bob Maitland classic Merino cycling jersey at Velobici.
This is one of two similar designs (see also the Tommy Godwin), with this shirt design to pay homage to 1948 Olympic road cycling hero Bob Maitland, who was also part of the first ever British team to ride the Tour de France in 1955.
It’s a classic zip jersey, made from 100% organic extra fine, high quality, Merino wool out of South Africa, with the design free of any internal seams to cause any rubbing or discomfort and featuring a rear drop back hem and rear buttoned Union Flag ride pocket. There’s also a signature at the hem and a subtle Velobici logo on the front.
Not cheap though, selling for £145.
