Coming your way soon is Eddie Piller presents The Mod Revival CD and vinyl set, which is pretty much what that sounds like.
Update: This article has now been amended with a new release date and an updated tracklisting.
On 25th September, Demon will release The Mod Revival box set, curated by Eddie Piller. The Mod Revival brings together 92 diverse tracks, that showcases Piller’s own take on the Mod Revival.
It’s the first time Eddie has compiled anything based on the Revival and kicks off with The Jam’s ‘I Got By In Time’ then carrying on with what’s described as ‘a truly revelatory journey through some very rare and, in some cases, forgotten gems of the early eighties, as well as some lesser-known songs by artists who went on to become very successful in the eighties and nineties’.
Those include acts inspired by the 1960s beat scene and others who looked to sixties soul and R&B for their influences, not to mention a few who took something from the late ‘60s psychedelic scene. But all had something about them and all made a mark on the Mod scene, whether to a greater or lesser extent.
All of that comes with an accompanying deluxe booklet, with Eddie contributing a 5000-word note describing what the time meant to him and critiquing how Mod evolved from the revival onwards. Additionally, he granted access to his own scrapbooks from his many years of gig-going from which photos, adverts and memorabilia are reproduced.
As I said earlier, this is a four-CD set, sold with an A5 hardback book. The double LP version features a curated selection of 28 tracks over four sides of blue and red vinyl.
The track listings for both are available below. if you want to pre-order, the CD set is now reduced from £29.99 down to £23.99 and the vinyl set is yours for £26.99.

How can I order this for delivery to the states? Amazon link shows this message “Currently, there are no sellers that can deliver this item to your location.”
If they don’t ship to the US, I would recommend keeping an eye on https://www.roughtrade.com who will almost certainly be offering this one eventually and do ship worldwide. Hope this helps.
Dexys, not Dexy’s
Wasn’t this almost identical mod revival box set “Millions Like Us” released around 5 years ago? And why does this feature Eddie’s face filling the entire cover? What exactly is being “sold” here?
Not approving any of my comments I see…
Some of us have full-time jobs, so comments get approved as and when possible.
It’s one man’s take on the Mod revival. So his face is on it.
Incredibly vain. One would think he was selling music, not himself. Besides the fact that someone else already did almost this exact same compilation.
Here’s a thing. The album isn’t on AJ, it’s via Demon, who obviously made the cover decision. If you want to criticise it, email them. It’s not Eddie’s call.
Yeah, sure it isn’t. That’s just laughable.
thanks David – very true
sadly, I had no input into the sleeve and that was not my choice but yes, i make you right. I am incredibly vain. But then that’s a pretty mod thing to be. Is it the same tracklisting? i don’t know as i didn’t look at it before I put the Box together but thanks for the info. Can I put you down for one? I’ll even sign it for you.
pass
Because Eddie is The King Of The Mods and has more hair than the rest of us. 😀
At last Gary, something sensible
no it isn’t the same – and i have no idea why that is the front cover, but then, why not?
Not very Mod in my world want to look at my mates CD for mods underground music like pass the hatchet by the gypsies.
My mate is Paul Anderson
This isn’t ‘all the music’. It’s just a new release set this week. There’s plenty of other music around on CD, vinyl, download etc and much of it not touching the Mod revival era.
to be fair Daren, this is a specific BOX SET compilation about a particular aspect of mod, called The Mod revival. It claims to be nothing more than a selection of music for people who want to hear about that particular window in time. I am sure Paul Anderson can introduce you to loads of mod music that isn’t of the mod revival as he has me over the years.
Mr. Piller – is there a way to contact you that does not involve signing up for Facebook, Twitter etc – such as good old fashioned email? I realise that is sooo twentieth century but if you don’t mind please publish here or contact me at [email protected]. Cheers!
Think Eddie Piller has compiled Revival compilations previously. I am old enough to remember Beat Generation and the Angry Young Men when it was first released – 1985? I loved that album at the time.
Good point, you might well be right with that one.
Reissued on CD in 2016 too: https://amzn.to/3izWASh
I don’t remember some of these tracks being on the vinyl edition. Think I was obsessed with the The Directions in a way only a 16 year old could be. This type of music was my gateway into a world of music and vinyl ( r n b, soul, popcorn, ska and much more) I have never really left behind.
Mr Piller (sir)
As Scooby D has declined your generous offer to deface (literally) this item I wonder if I could source said (autographed) item
I’d even accept it with your scrawl across the pristine Perry in indelible ink if that makes her /him (SD) feel a little less churlish ?
NB I am serious about securing an autographed copy
Cheers
Simon
just pm me on FB – being the vain arrogant mod that I am, i would love to help
Inspiral Carpets – great band, but Mod Revival – nah! not a chance Eddie!
In reply to your comment “this is a specific BOX SET compilation about a particular aspect of mod, called The Mod revival. It claims to be nothing more than a selection of music for people who want to hear about that particular window in time”
Gary, as i said it was personal. I was very good mates with Clint Boon in the early 90’s and I still personally believe that the band had alot of mod about them. If that is your only criticism then I;m happy
Eddie
what’s the Fred Perry you have on in pic, struggling to find on their website?
