The title says it all, really. The last-ever Mousetrap R&B Allnighter in London will take place on Saturday, 10th February 2024.
And that’s quite a significant thing. I might try and collar Rob Bailey for an interview about the night, which has been running for – wait for it – 32 years. That’s quite the run when you consider how competitive and fashion-led (even in Mod terms) the club scene is.
First off, the essential information.
The last Mousetrap Allnighter takes place on Saturday, 10th February from 10pm at Orleans, 259 Seven Sisters Road, Finsbury Park, London N4 2DD. Tickets are priced at £10 and can be purchased at the website in advance. £12 on the door if you don’t buy in advance.
Three of the original resident DJs, Rob Bailey, Lee Miller and Chris Dale, will be joined by scene stalwart Mr Alan Handscombe and ‘cool young gun’ Charles Whitehouse. The team will cover as much of those thirty-plus incredible years of Mousetrap music as they can in eight hours.
Note that the Freakbeat, Garage and Psych allnighter will continue at the venue in 2024, this is only the end for the R&B night.
To celebrate the occasion a free vinyl 45 featuring two tracks from the clubs stellar playlist including an exclusive remix from DJ Dr Robert is available for the first time.
Expect a warm welcome, fantastic music and a great crowd. For those who have never been, it is a basement club with a low ceiling, a ‘kicking’ sound system, a wooden dancefloor with seating booths around the edge, and a cloakroom as well as air conditioning.
