Not quite a 1960s original, but the Mod Watch by Timex is a vintage timepiece that is available once more.
Yes, there is such a thing as a ‘Mod Watch’, although it isn’t quite as straightforward as that. There weren’t hordes of scooter-riding Mods wearing watches like this back in 1964.
This was originally the Timex Sprite and dates back to the 1970s rather than the 1960s. Originally a military watch, it featured a target/bullseye design (take your pick) which is why this watch is now known as the Mod design.
The reissue of the watch keeps the vintage-style dial and the design, which is the key selling point here in red and black. As you can see from the image here, there is also an olive design too, which is nice enough but without the appeal of the original colour scheme.
The watch also has a 40mm face and has 50-metre water resistance plus a Quartz movement. A good, everyday watch with the kind of visual appeal that makes it a talking point.
The watch has been produced in association with Todd Snyder and as such, is only available directly from that website. But the site does ship worldwide. As for price, you are looking at £109.

Of course, you could argue that a ‘Mod watch’ is quite simply a good watch. Whether that’s a Tag Heuer Monaco watch as made famous by Steve McQueen, a Rolex Submariner loved by Bond or anything cool, classic and sharp, whether that’s a vintage watch or something modern and sleek. At the end of the day, it’s your wrist and there are plenty of options out there if you still want to show off a watch.
