Much-loved and rarely seen, the Onitsuka Tiger Nippon 60 trainers are back, but only in limited numbers.
This is a shoe that has had quite a history on the Modculture site. I first spotted them back in 2007, which is when they were last reissued. At the time, the reissue was a choice of red or a navy blue. Just one of those colours is back this time.
Fast forward a few years and I did a 10 of the best 1960s-style trainers, featuring this shoe despite it not being available. Until now, that is.
The company has finally seen sense and reissued the Nippon 60. But if you want a pair, don’t hang about. The Nippon 60 is a limited edition and its unlikely to feature in the range again for some time.
If you didn’t know, this is a replica of the shoe that Japan’s national team was wearing in 1960 and offered once more in the originals red (not the blue) in a strictly limited run of 1,964 pairs as part of the Icon Series. Serial numbers are inside each one so you know it’s a limited number. Once they’re gone, that’s it. On the plus side, they have just landed and all sizes are currently in stock directly from the maker.
But it is only available in red (I always preferred the navy blue) and it is a strictly limited edition, along with there equally cool Delegation 64 shoe.
Price? You can pick these up for £115 right now.
