Thanks to Paul Wright for letting me use a couple of his superb images from his Mods 1979-1980 Flickr set.

Of course, you’ll need to go visit that Flickr set for all of the others. You should too, because they really are superb. The images are candid snaps of early mods around London, live gigs and some memorabilia from ‘back in the day’ – with a ‘famous’ face even sneaking into the frame.

Yes, Mick Talbot, originally of the Merton Parkas and later of the Style Council (and now Dexy’s) is one of the people caught on camera – in fact, he’s in at least two of the shots.

Want to see the full set? The Flickr gallery of Paul Wright can be found here. You’ll be surprised how well the shots have aged.

Credit to Voices of East Anglia for originally bringing these to our attention too.

Love Modculture? If you enjoy what you read or have benefitted from it and want to help with the ever-increasing costs of the site, you can always buy me a coffee.
