It is not somewhere I feature often, but the vintage-style knitted polo shirts at Marks & Spencer caught my eye. Cheap too.

To be honest, one colour rather than the other caught my eye mainly. I love the burgundy mix compared to the black mix. Not that there’s anything wrong with the other – it just jumps out a little more.

Both designs have a strong 1960s vibe – something of a ‘hipster in the Med’ feel about both. You can imagine someone sporting something like this on the French Riviera back in the day.

But this isn’t high-end fashion. Both are knitted polo shirts made of cotton and made for the warmer weather – which, as I type, means now. The stripe, the three-button collar, the contrasting hem and cuffs (on the burgundy one) and a look that’s perfect for the time of year.

If I were being critical, I would have preferred the collar to be a touch longer, but that won’t happen on the high street. What the high street does offer is a more affordable price point, and this is available in pretty much any size you want for just £32 as part of the M&S Collection range.

Certainly worth a look.
