If you go and have a suit made at a tailors, you always have the option of using a tailor’s cloth – but often you’ll pay a tailor’s mark-up and choice might be limited.

Local knowledge is often the key to finding decent suite material, a look round your local Yellow Pages could dig up cloth warehouses, although some town and cities are obviously better than others. Alternatively, here are two tried and trusted sources.

There is a widely-used eBay seller for suit cloth going under the name British Fabrics. You can check out their eBay page here. Plenty of choice, constantly updated and good prices. The first place to look if you want material online.

However, if you’re in the Yorkshire area (or are prepared to drive there), you could check out the Suit Length & Fabric Centre, 918 Wakefield Road, Bradford, BD4 7QQ. It’s the place where the tailors in the area go, great choice, very friendly service and the place to find something distinctive. No website, so make sure you give them a call before you go to check opening hours and if they might have what you require. They are on 01274 729103.
