A niche reissue and a welcome one. The 1970s Adidas Cadet trainers are now back on the shelves.

It was released back in 1974 and as far as I can remember, it hasn’t been seen on the shelves for quite some years. Which is why I’m so surprised it is here now.

Looking not unlike the Adidas Rekord, which was reissued last year, this was an affordable all-rounder back in the day, with extra padding on the tongue and to protect the heel and Achilles tendon. These days it’s just a great piece of vintage-style sportswear.

It’s also back in the same colour scheme as the original too. There is an alternative colour you might want to check out, but for me, the white leather with red and blue stripes, as well as a blue heel is where it’s at. This is a shoe that still looks the part almost 50 years on.

Also present is the suede toe piece and the slim sole that only adds to the look. Yes, I am a fan of this one.

If you want a pair I can only see them right at the official Adidas store but on the plus side, they have all the sizes in stock.
As for price, if you want the Cadet in your life you are looking at £70. Not cheap, but cheaper than many of the recent City Series reissues that have made it back onto the racks of late.
