Not the cheapest thing to buy, but the John Simons x Paul Weller leather trucker jacket is a thing of beauty.
Not that it’s a new concept. You might recall Aero Leather doing one some time back, and Levi’s did one in black leather over the summer. But that takes nothing away from this design, which is a great-looking piece of clothing.
I did spot Paul Weller wearing one not long back in some photos and wondered if it was a Real Hoxton leather jacket (more on that in a moment). But this launch shows that it was the result of the latest collaboration between Ivy League menswear retailer John Simons and regular customer Paul Weller.
It’s being produced in ridiculously small numbers (about 36 of each colour), so it will doubtless sell out quickly regardless of the piece tag. It’s the reintroduction of what was once a classic of the day, described as a staple of the late 1960s Suedehead style.
In short, a leather trucker jacket made from luxurious heavy Nappa leather (hence the price) in three colourways, each with a ‘short boxy fit’ and ‘characteristic press-stud fastenings’. As I said, limited to just 36 pieces.
Three colours are available, which you can see on this page. £895 is a big ask for anyone. But if you’ve ever owned a quality leather jacket, you’ll know you get good mileage out of it, and these things look better with age. In other words, an investment piece.

I mentioned Real Hoxton earlier and it does a more affordable alternative if you can’t stretch to this. The leather trucker jacket at Real Hoxton sells for £175. Although you probably want to compare and contrast before deciding which way to jump.
