If you have the money, these limited edition 1950s-style Adidas Samba trainers are a lovely thing to own.
And that’s the point to make. These don’t come cheap. This is a premium limited edition, perhaps aimed at the collectors’ market, although they’ll look pretty good on your feet too
Premium because of the design, the materials, the limited numbers and because this is one of the few styles on the shelves that has been made in Scheinfeld, Germany.
It’s also one of the most popular Adidas designs out there. I featured the Samba in my Mod trainers round-up, and it was the first design on the list.
A timeless classic that has been around pretty much non-stop since 1950. The design has gradually changed since, but not massively. However, you can see where the changes are when you see this one – influenced by the first-ever Samba design.
It looks like the more common Samba OG, but it also looks very different. A sleeker profile (not unlike the Adidas Italia), still with black leather but with the addition of the white stitching on the premium leather upper. A white sole unit, white details and gold branding finish things off.
Well, not quite. This limited edition also has its own distinctive box and a bag to keep them nice and clean, too. Want a pair? £160 is the price.
