If you love your old-school Adidas, then I suspect you’ll fall for the newly launched Adidas SPZL Gazelle trainers.
Update: They have just been discounted by £20 at Flannels, but sizes are going fast.
Because, quite simply, they look great, and they incorporate details seen in Gazelles from the late 1960s and early 1970s. It is a limited edition, too, which always adds to the appeal.
Not that it’s obvious that there’s much difference when you first look at them. The go,d branding, of course, perhaps the contrast white on the top and the ‘vintage foxing tape’, which harks back to the shoes made in Canada back in the early 1970s apparently.
Beyond that, this is a Gazelle with a regular fit and with the green suede upper, rubber outsole, perforated stitch stripes and the gold Gazelle SPZL branding to the side.
You can’t go far wrong with the Gazelle. It’s in my 10 of the best 1960s-style Mod trainers round-up, and for good reason. It’s a timeless design.
Part of the Consortium range, they come in a bit pricier than your usual Gazelles, retailing in limited numbers for £110.
