There’s a healthy men’s range, so it’s good to see a women’s 1960s range, too. Kicking off with the Lucy 1960s-style paisley dress by 66 Clothing.

I have featured 66 Clothing in the past, which is an offshoot of the Mod Shoes label. Basically, it’s clothing inspired by the past and, in most cases, by classics (and more niche designs) of the 1960s.

It’s a popular and well-made range – I have a few items from it myself and got good wear out of them over the summer. But what it has lacked is a range of designs for women. Thankfully, it looks like that is now being addressed.

Not that there’s a shortage of 1960s dresses out there at the moment. I pulled together a rundown of Mod and 1960s dressmakers some time back, and I recently wrote up a round-up of 10 of the best 1960s dresses at Joanie for the Retro To Go site. But it’s nice to see more labels entering the fray.

And I’m hopeful about the new selection coming from 66 Clothing based on this first outing.

The standout detail for me is the cloth. You just don’t see a lot of paisley around these days. In this case, you get a choice of two shades, depending on how bright you want to go. A tangerine or a more subtle black and white. The fabric itself is described as ‘super soft, stretchy and easy to wear’.

As for the style, that’s pretty versatile. Very much of the original era, it works well as a standalone or for layering up, pinafore-style, when it gets colder. Like now, for example. The photos show it off better than I can describe it.
Sizes are 8 through to 16, and the price is £49, which compares well to similar dresses/retailers.
