You just don’t see so many for sale. A collection of Mod’s Monthly magazines on eBay. 10 in total and looking for a new owner.
This is quite a thing and I’ll you this. You will not see as many in one batch for sale again on eBay unless someone wins this and sticks them back up on eBay.
The magazines, all well over 50 years old, are a mix of Mod’s Monthly and The Mod, which is the name the magazine reverted to in late 1964. Also offered as part of the deal are some similar period issues of Pop Shop and Teen Beat, which are likely to be of interest too.
The magazines cover the period 1964 to 1966 and were produced by Albert Hand publications Ltd. in Derbyshire. All are around 30 pages each.
Don’t expect these to be some kind of mod revelation. The magazines were a cash-in on the popular mod scene of the time and are more of a snapshot of the era than some kind of secret magazine for those in the know.
But they are incredibly rare and as a result, incredibly popular too. Copies do come up now and again, but usually individually. It’s rare to see multiple copies and certainly not 10 – with some of the rare issues amongst them. Some I haven’t seen for sale in the past.
So if you want to invest in the magazine, this is the ideal place to start. These magazines will only go up in value – no one is going to find a treasure trove of them and they will not be reproduced.
According to the seller, all are in ‘good condition’ considering the age, especially as these things were not built to last.
Want them? A few bids already, but with a few days to go, the price is at £200 for the lot. I’m tempted to bid myself and digitise the lot for posterity, but it might be a bit pricey for me in the end.
