The Smashed & Blocked Cricket Tour at Anglozine is the name of the new clothing range. John’s Children meets cricket, would you believe.
The collection is described as ‘more Bolan than Botham’, with the white theme of John’s Children mixing with some retro shades and a few tips of the hat to the summer sport of cricket. A freak-beat cricket team, if you like.
It’s a range probably described as Mod-friendly rather than outright Mod. If you like the way Anglozine goes about its business (and I class myself as a fan), then you’ll likely appreciate the latest spring/summer clothing selection.
As ever, it’s a mix of outerwear, t-shirts, knitwear and trousers, with the occasional reworked classic and curveball thrown in. In terms of the latter, the Bridlington cricket-style caps, for example (which you can see below).
Limited runs, high quality, made in the UK and designed to stand out. It isn’t the cheapest out there, but that’s not really the point. It’s made well, and I still have pieces on rotation from the earliest ranges that still look like new. Buy well and buy once.
Some of the designs currently available are shown in the images above and below, with more on the retailer’s website.
My two favourites are at the top, the Island Madras button-down jacket and the one that really jumps out at me, the Layne lightweight jacket in green Madras. I can see that getting some use over the warmer months. They retail for £280 each.
Other designs include the Garage jacket, available in three colour options and selling for £195, the white Bedford cord jeans at £150, the Yard jacket for £150, the Sedona zip-collar top for £120, the short-sleeve knits for £95 each and the powder blue Zine top for £80.
There are more images of these and more of the range on the retailer’s site, as well as some more background on the range.
You can see it all at the Anglozine website.
