Want your club featured? Read on

by Modculture 23 February, 2010

Ok, here's the deal. We can list any number of club dates and words like '…a playlist of soul and R&B…' but that doesn't really tell you a great deal about a club. So we're starting club features.

It's simple – all you have to do is contact the site asking for a list of 10 standard questions. You answer those, send them back via email with a photo, flyer or other image and we run the feature on this site. Everyone knows what you're about, your attendance (hopefully) increases, everyone is happy.

It doesn't matter what part of the mod spectrum you're appealing to and it doesn't matter where you are in the world. Just get in touch and we'll take it from there.

The Moons debut album reviewed

by Modculture 22 February, 2010

We've been lucky enough to get an advance copy of The Moons' Life On Earth album, which is released by Acid Jazz on March 15th 2010. So with much haste, we have got a review of it online.

As we mentioned last week, the band is fronted by Paul Weller’s keyboardist Andy Crofts and featuring Chris Ketley of the recently defunct Rakes. On that March 15th launch date, the band will also be at HMV on Oxford Street on that day at 5pm to play some tunes, followed by the album launch party at the Old Blue Last in the evening.

But ahead of that is the review, check it out now, with the album avaialble for pre-order at Amazon and all the usual outlets.

Double Breasted fanzine – new issue

by Modculture 22 February, 2010

For some people, starting new Facebook groups every 10 minutes seems to appeal, but luckily for us, the folks north of the border make more of an effort, producing the Double Breasted fanzine. Oh yes, the new issue is out on March 1st 2010.

This particular issue features interviews with Acid Jazz's Rich Searle, Alex Petty from band of the moment Aunt Nelly, Jewel Records Stan Lewis and even me on behalf of Modculture. But don't let that put you off. There's also photo's from the launch of the book, I'm Not Like Everybody Else and an interesting look at the music which inspired The Beatles, plus loads of album and single reviews, scoot news, clothing, books and much more.

Four issues are planned for this year – 1st March, 1st June, 1st September and 1st December. You can get all the copies for £9 – UK, £12 – Europe and £15  – Rest of the World. Subscribers may also get a goody or two during the year. For more details ro to buy the fanzine via email, use the [email protected] email address. Otherwise, find out more at the MySpace site.
